The Barnes ChoirWe are an amateur choir that has been performing in SW London since 1952 and continues to put on regular concerts at least three times a year. Our aim is to put on programmes with a wide variety of works from all periods and in all styles, the familiar and the less so. Where possible, local artistes have been involved in solo, vocal and instrumental capacities in our concerts, and local composers have featured in our programmes including Donald Swann, Alan Gibbs, Roxanna Panufnik and Brian Blyth Daubney. We recently performed a new work by Michael Zev Gordon specially commissioned for the choir. In 2006, the choir visited Le Pecq, a community south-west of Paris twinned with Barnes, and performed both on our own and with choirs from France, Germany and Spain. We returned to Le Pecq in May 2009. Our conductor is Andrew Charity and our assistant conductor and accompanist is Julian Collings.
